As the mountains around Lake Iseo in northern Italy tumble into the sea, their craggy limestone heights catch the last of the evening’ orange light, lifting them to a higher plane. There is something ethereal about these gigantic, stratified limestone cliffs which tumble into the water. Houses perch precariously on their uneven faces.
I wanted to capture the quiet, brooding solitude of the cliffs, and their gentle, subtle colour shifts as they catch and absorb the last of the day’s light.
This oil painting on 3mm linen panel measures 30x60cm and is unframed.
