The Last Light

£320.00

Painted in the last of the day's light looking across the River Exe at Topsham, Devon. The dying sun was bursting through the clouds, turning everything into silhouettes. The river had quietened, and the the golden light reflected back towards me and caught the tops of the reeds, creating a double sunset and a band of light stretching across the scene.

Created on clear primed natural linen, I used the darker, warmer tone to bring out the golden light and to recede the darker colours in the painting. The subtle colour changes in the darkness create the landscape and subtle definitions of the shadows.

This oil painting on 3mm linen canvas panel measures 50x25cm and is unframed.
