As the sun rose over the lake, there was a stunning colour contrast between the serene blues of the lake water, and the orange light caught in the clouds, which were quickly building and rising with the emerging heat. Purples and blues gave way to reds and oranges, yet the lake water remained cool, blue and reflective.
I kept this painting loose and fast, working on capturing the cloud colours before they disappeared, and contrasting the textured sky with the calm water. Smooth ripples of early wind snaked across the surface, catching the orange light in places against the dark silhouette of Monte Isola island.
Painted on a 3mm linen panel, this unframed painting measures 30x60cm.
